Heesemann turns sanding upside down
Dienstag, 06. September 2011
This was the motto of the German sanding machine manufacturer who presented a sensation at the Ligna 2011: creating a prominent rough saw-cut pattern onto the surface of veneered boards in through-feed operation with their MFA 10 model. This trendy surface has been developed in close cooperation with Decospan, the Belgian veneer panel manufacturer.
Usually the quality of a sanded surface is judged by its even appearance and the least amount of sanding marks. The contrary is the case with the rough saw-cut pattern as in this case the deep and rustic markings are a desired design feature.
Up to now multi-fold time-consuming process steps were necessary to create such a surface on solid wood or veneer. For a pattern resembling a pyramid the veneer had to be joined carefully despite the obvious problems of joining thick veneer strips. But today all it takes is a push of a button and various designs of the saw-cut patterns can be created such as crosswise, in the design of staircase steps or even in that of a pyramid and a fish bone pattern at various angles.
With the respective configuration the MFA 10 can also be used as a sanding machine for veneered or lacquered surfaces.
According to the desired finish the saw-cut patterns can be smoothened with the Heesemann RUT brush disk sanding unit before or after the subsequent lacquering or oiling.
