Less than a year has passed since Heesemann and HOMAG announced their technology partnership in the area of grinding machines. HOMAG's stated goal was to continue to cover the entire customer process chain. However, Heesemann should be responsible for the development and manufacture of grinding machines in the future. In order to be able to offer integrated solutions for all segments from entry-level to high-end solutions, Heesemann has expanded its grinding machine portfolio. And the result is impressive.
Thanks to their robust construction and outstanding performance features, Heesemann grinding machines are ideally designed for continuous use in industrial series production. But in recent years, more and more customers from the craft sector and small and medium-sized companies have also been getting a taste for automated grinding.
The HSM, Heesemann's smallest machine to date, was particularly popular in this segment. With the new SWT-100 and HSM Compact entry-level models, the portfolio is now being rounded off downwards, and the HSM series is completely redesigned as a “New Edition”. As a result, even the most demanding craftsman can now get industrial technology at affordable prices. Because all machines have one thing in common: Heesemann DNA is in all models. This means that Heesemann does not compromise on the quality of the polished product, regardless of whether sanding is carried out with a KSA or a SWT-100, the quality promise remains the same.
The SWT-100 is the perfect solution for small and medium-sized craft businesses to fulfill customer-specific grinding tasks in surface treatment. Whether as a single or two-band machine, the predefined five configuration models with a working width of 1,100 mm are perfect for manufacturing kitchen, office and solid wood furniture. Calibrating and fine sanding solid wood, sanding veneers and intermediate lacquer sanding is therefore possible. The SWT-100 was offered by HOMAG until a year ago and is now available as a Heesemann machine.
The HSM Compact was developed on the basis of the former SWT-200. Numerous Heesemann technologies have been incorporated, such as the maintenance-free CSD magnetic pressure bar as standard, which is also found in all other Heesemann machines, spindle height adjustment in the machine stand or the absolutely plane-parallel Heesemann vacuum table to obtain perfectly dimensionally accurate workpieces, and finally, energy consumption is reduced through particularly efficient extraction.
With the HSM Compact, all work performed during the company can be carried out with consistent quality and particularly user-friendly: Calibration, intermediate veneer and paint sanding, structuring and cleaning of boards, solid wood or veneered workpieces. The multifunctional grinding center on an area of just 4.5 square meters is ideal for producing a wide range of surface qualities. The HSM Compact is Heesemann's smallest machine, which is equipped with the maintenance-free CSD magnetic pressure bar as standard. It is available as a single and two-band machine in six possible standard configurations and useful equipment options.
The HSM New Edition is the consistent development of the successful HSM series. For the first time, the popular DB-S planetary head unit is available in an entry-level machine. Whether it's effect sanding, cross sanding, lacquer or high-gloss sanding, boards, solid wood or veneered workpieces — with the HSM New Edition, it is possible to process workpieces with a thickness of 3 mm to 200 mm. It has an automatic workpiece thickness measurement across the entire processing width at the machine inlet. Both the sanding belt speed on all fine sanding units and the feed rate (3-15m/min) can be adjusted continuously. The HSM series is available as a two, three or four-band machine in 17 possible standard configurations and a wide range of equipment options.
The successful completion of the project at Heesemann in Bad Oeynhausen was celebrated with a handover event in mid-February. In addition to the German-speaking sales team, international colleagues were also present via live broadcast. It was clear that there was cooperation not only in the technical sector, but also in the sales and service network. Peter Niederer, HOMAG Switzerland site manager, reported on initial joint sales successes and what his “secret recipe” is:
